Who am I though?
My name is Connor Demorest, I'm a junior at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. I'm studying Statistics, and I've collected minors in Mathematics and Biology along my journey.
I started as an engineering major at UW Madison. I took a bunch of math classes there and failed the first physics test so bad I dropped the class and major and transferred to Winona State after my freshman spring (Winona State is significantly cheaper than Wisconsin, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do!).
I was a Biology major for 3 semesters and took a bunch of biology courses like Cell Biology (sucked), Genetics (was awesome), Microbiology (meh), and Immunology (so bad I switched majors again). I took an introductory Statistics course intended for upperclassmen Biology majors, Biometry, with Dr. Deppa. It was an accelerated introductory class compared to the other introduction classes. Dr. Deppa convinced me to switch to a Statistics major, and I'm much happier and more satisfied than I was studying engineering or biology.
What's next?
More posts to follow: in no particular order, I have a reflection on my Spring 2019 classes (my first semester as a Statistics major), a preview of my Fall 19 classes, and a baseball data science project I've been working on that I'm intending on writing a paper and presenting a poster on at conferences, and my summer plans/how the summer is going and what I've been up to.
